Urges and Purges

altWe would like to say well done to one of loops regulars The Spikes.  Recently the band released their debut album 'Urges and Purges' with a packed out launch gig in Radio city.  Also Audio Networks the booking agent who look after Aslan, The Coronas Noise Control and Damien Dempsy have just announced that they are now representing the band.  Congrats lads looks like things are on the up for you.

However it's not all good news for the lads as drummer Gordon has just announced that he will have to return to Australia, we'll miss you Gordon, there'll be no-one asking for a 'peadle' anymore sob, sob...all the best to you fella in your musical endeavours in oz.

The band will be back in Loop this week trying out a new drummer so I guess it's good news that the band won't be off the road for that long with the departure of Gordon and we're looking forward to hearing what the new rythm section sounds like.

We Love you Dark Room Notes...

altLoop Studios regular Dark Room Notes have just announced that their eagerly anticipated album 'We Love You Dark Matter is now available to pre-order online.

After spending several months locked away in Loop Studios the band departed from these shores to record the album with legendary producer/engineer Flood in London. The album (from what we've heard) is a mature affirmation of the bands ability to write classic melodically driven pop melodies with dark electronica and banging live beats! After supporting Kraftwerk this summer and with the launch of 'We Love you Dark Matter' Dark Room Notes look set for a larger stage indeed....and we say " about bloody time!!!"...well done folks and we wish you all the best with it.

If you're not familiar with the bands music you can listen to some snippets on their myspace page www.myspace.com/darkroomnotesireland and if that tickles your fancy you can pre-order the album by clicking the album cover below!

SXBP New Album!

alt...well not quite yet... but we can say that last years Choice Music Prize winners Super Extra Bonus Party have been back down in Loop Studios working on new material.  Cormac from SXBP told to us that the band were taking the approach of using as many live elements as possible in the new work...can't wait to hear the results lads.

After winning the much coveted Choice award last year the band set about getting some of Irelands top remixers and bands to put together a remix album of their debut and in October the band released 'Appetite for Reconstruction' which has been getting some serious acclaim.

If you want to check out what Super Extra Bonus Party are up to they are playing some live shows at the dates and venues below...and they're a band we definately recomend going to see live...

Rehearse free!!!

In Jan 2009 Loop Studios, Dublin's premier rehearsal rooms,  introduced their new loyalty card system. After years of seeing bands practice here and after years of us drinking coffee we made an observation...with coffee you get a loyalty card so why not with music! and that's how we combined the two. When you rehearse in Loop Studios you are given a loyatly card which after each rehearsal you get stamped. After you've got eight stamps we give you your ninth session here absolutely free!
